Imperial
Majesty Cruises Jobs
A
small and relatively young cruise line, Imperial Majesty Cruise Line
acquired the former ocean liner "OceanBreeze" from the now
defunct Premier Cruise Lines some years ago. The vintage ship is
deployed on year-round short cruises to The Bahamas. The
21,486-ton, 604-foot-long OceanBreeze
occupies a unique place in maritime history. Christened in 1954 by
Queen Elizabeth II, who chose the name Southern
Cross, the vessel circled the globe,
visiting ports in Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, South
Africa, the South Pacific, and Europe.
In 1972, the ship was acquired by a Greek company, renamed ss Calypso,
given a $16 million conversion and a new cruise itinerary in the
Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Alaska. On September 29, 1980, she was
sold to the Gotaas Larsen Group of Companies of Bermuda, who sailed
her under the name ss Azure
Seas until
May 1992. Purchased by Dolphin Cruise Lines in 1992 and she was
renamed Ocean
Breeze,
the ship cruised from Aruba to the southern Caribbean and Panama
Canal.
In 1999, the Ocean
Breeze
was chartered by Imperial
Majesty Cruise Line. In May 2000, she was
purchased by Imperial
Majesty
and subsequently given a $3.5 million renovation that added a modern
tropical ambiance while restoring the original splendour of this
classic ship. In 2003 Regal Cruises ceased operations and Imperial
Majesty Cruises purchased their only cruise ship - Regal Empress
which replaced the Ocean Breeze. Her ports of call are now
Fort Lauderdale and Nassau.
Cruise
ships and itineraries:
Regal Empress:
Bahamas registered, built 1953, 21.909 gross tons, 1.068
passengers, 396 crew members.
Itineraries: Florida, Bahamas. |
