Compagnie Des Iles Du Ponant Cruises was established in 1998. The company started with just one vessel and has slowly grown over the years. Currently Compagnie Des Iles Du Ponant Cruises operates a fleet of three small cruise ships (yachts); Le Ponant, Le Levant and Le Diamant and two more vessels are joining the fleet in 2010 - Le Boreal and L' Austral. The Le Ponant has 32 fully equipped cabins and sails under the French Flag. It has crew of thirty people. There is a terrace lounge, a large lounge, dining rooms and a nightclub. The Le Levant has 45 fully equipped outside cabins, with two bars, a fitness center, a swimming pool, a large lounge and a boutique. It also sails under the French flag and has a crew of 55 members. The Le Diamant can accommodate 226 passengers. It has 4 bars, a lounge, a library, a swimming pool with sun deck, a massage room and a hospital with infirmary. All the yachts are equipped with telephone and satellite equipment.
The ships visit usually inaccessible by larger vessels places and ports. Destinations covered by Compagnie Des Iles Du Ponant Cruises are from the Adriatic to the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea and Aegean Sea, Indian Ocean/Red Sea, South America and Antarctica, Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Iceland and Greenland.
